Last year we found a pumpkin patch about 15 minutes from where we live, with a steam-engine train ride, a large field of pumpkins, and a tunnel made out of hay that Blake loved running through. We decided to make it an annual tradition and went back this past weekend. Blake was a little nervous as the train was about to pull away from the boarding platform. I loved it since it was the only time he has wanted to hold my hand or sit on my lap in a while! The train was loud and jerky compared to his normal way of getting around in our quiet car. Robbie held Grace at the back of the train and we watched as two men dressed as cowboys carried their guns up and down the train and demanded money from the passengers. I told the hijacker that my husband had all of the money and Robbie insisted that Grace really had it. When the train came to a stop by the pumpkin patch, the cowboys stopped the train by shooting their guns into the air and instructed the engineer to get off. They then had a 10-minute gun fight, which terrified Blake and Grace! They were using blanks for bullets and the show was pretty loud, I have to admit. Blake did not cry but covered his ears and kept saying, "I want to go home. Is the popping over, yet?" Robbie tried to tell Blakeman afterwards that some kids think the show is fun. Maybe in a few more years he'll like it, after he stops going into my room and closing the door when he hears the vacuum turn on! We took several pictures in the beautiful pumpkin patch and enjoyed the view of the fields as far as we could see, without a house in sight. Blake and Robbie also loved playing in the hay and Grace wanted to get out of the stroller and walk around so much that I thought she was going to tumble out of her buckles. She loved trying out her new walking skills on the hay. I think October will be the only time I will find hay in the washing machine.

The pumpkin patch is so fun. That's neat that there's a train ride with a show. The loud noise would scare my kids too. Alyssa use to hate the vaccuum. She was so scared of it. Now she likes to help push it around. I don't know which is worse!
