Roller Skating Lesson

This summer Carla and I went to a roller skating rink in Sacramento for a $5 skating lesson.  It was really exciting for Blake and Grace to try out these slippery wheels for the first time.  London wouldn't come near the skates but she watched with curiosity as Blake and Grace learned to fall with dignity and stand up properly, push off with their skates, and skate around some construction cones.  When all of the big, fast skaters came on the floor after the lesson for open skate time, our kids wanted to stay on the carpeted areas and play with the video games.  Then Carla and I rested with them in the snack area while they played a game imagining that each birthday room at the skating rink was 'the boys or the girls castle' and went back and forth making visits to each other.  Finally a worker told us that the rooms should be locked and asked us to refrain from the castle game so we decided to call it a good first day of skating and head back into the summertime heat for some lunch.
