Blake and Grace Together

Blake and Grace have had a lot of fun playing together in the last few months, especially. Grace is learning how to talk more, cries less often, can run to keep up with Blake, and does not come over and knock down what he's playing with as often. Blake has learned how to not be so bothered when she cries, ask her if she's okay as a first instinct when she trips instead of giggling, not pull things that he wants to play with out of her hands, ask her very nicely to come and play with him, and take her hand and run down the hall with her when he wants to show her something fun to play with. He also has a few "first words" books memorized and will read them to her sometimes if she'll let him. It is really fun to see them play together and enjoy spending time together.

At the Park

We took a Carl's Jr. Picnic to the Park.

Blake: Would rather eat than play

"Blake, would you like to come play?" - "No, Thanks!"

Blake's our drink man. Notice the three drinks: Water, "pokey juice", and milk (Grace's drink, my drink, and his drink).

He would have apple juice, water, milk, chocolate milk, pokey juice (soda), and grape juice every morning for breakfast if we let him! Mmm...he loves those yummy drinks.

Just like his mom! I would rather have a fun smoothie-type drink and an appetizer at dinner than water with an entree. Jamba Juice is a favorite treat for us.

Grace: Would rather play - Let me run!

I'll take a break and try some milk.

At Home

This toddler car has been a hit for a couple of years in our family. Each time we play with it, both Blake and Grace want a turn to drive. I noticed Blake was driving one time, scooted way up in the seat with tons of room behind him. I said, "Maybe Grace can drive with you!" It was a little tight, but fun.

Love you, sweet girl

Sunday After Church

I have a few pictures of Blake with his arm around Grace from when they were younger but no recent ones. We had to grab the camera for these. They sat side-by-side while I spun them around in the computer desk chair (see a little belly-ness on the side of the picture).

A big kiss! Blake always gives Grace a hug and a kiss and says, "Sorry, Mammies, I love you," after a time-out for a push/shove/hit. Those time-outs are becoming much less frequent as they get older. I've never seen her give him a kiss!

And he squeeeeeezed her right back!

Playtime

If Blake or Grace wake up before 7 AM, the other one usually will wake up, too. Blake will often climb into Grace's crib and play with her for a few minutes. It is amazing the laughing and giggling that I will hear coming out of there as Blake tosses as many toys as he can into the crib on some mornings. He discovered that the doll stroller will hang upside down over the crib if he positions it just right and then they'll spin the wheels and play with it like that. One time he said to me, "Mom you've got to see this. It's kil-arious." (instead of hilarious!) The morning that I took these first three pictures, we were playing a game of tossing a soft ball back and forth from the crib. Blake was trying to call his shot: "I'm going to hit the changing table," or "I'm going to hit that pillow," or "I'm going to hit your tummy." - Woah! Don't do that!! :)

Okay, not so much giggling here. Especially once mom comes in, it's time to get "Up!"

There are times when I wish my kids weren't so close together in age, like when I am holding Jaxton in one arm and trying to hold on to Hayden's squirmy hand as we are crossing the street. But the great thing about them being so close together is that they are such good friends. My girls rarely have friends over because they like playing with each other so much. It's great!

Your kids are too cute!! When they get to be this age all that hard work from the early years starts to pay off. It just gets better and better-- they can finally entertain each other! I remember Adam used to climb into Trent's crib when they were the same age as yours are. They loved each other then and still do now. Isn't it the best?

They look like they play together so well. I can't wait for Addi to get a bit older so my girls can play together. Lissa actually loves just having her in her room to keep her company and I think that is so cute. But I love the pics with Blake's arm around Grace and where she is kissing him. Moments like those make being a mom even sweeter! Too cute!
