At my last doctor's appointment we scheduled a c-section for Friday, April 25th at 8 AM. Our third baby has joined her brother and sister in deciding that it is much more comfortable spend the last several weeks of pregnancy with their head towards my ribs! Someone told me once with Blake, that he just wanted to be close to my heart. I love that.
Today I changed the baby countdown ticker to show how far we have to go until April 25th. If our baby girl turns head down, I'll adjust the date again to show the original due date of May 4th.
This will be our third c-section - it is interesting. I did not anticipate that three of my children may greet the world by "bear trap" (upside down surprise welcome from the doctors). I was really hopeful to try for a regular delivery with Grace and with our new daughter if they were in the right position, since our doctor supports labor after one or two c-sections. But with this pregnancy, as with the other two, our biggest desire is to get her here safely.
There are a couple of "try-at-home" techniques for getting a baby to flip: laying on the ground with pillows under your hips for 5-15 minutes and doing handstands in a pool, of which I have tried both!
One morning a few months ago at breakfast, Blake asked, "How does the baby come out of your tummy?" I said, "Either the baby or the doctor unlocks the tummy." Though our babies have been a little surprised by their entries into the world, I am gratfeul that the doctor can "unlock the tummy."
I have a large sense of gratitude for the successful c-section deliveries we've experienced in our family and feel a reverence and love for the women who lived before the time of cesarean births in years past. I can't wait to meet you, sweet baby girl.

I guess babies like to show that they have their own way of doing things, too! :) My babies didn't turn head down until very shortly (maybe a week) before they were born. Being in the NW, though, they are very anti-C-section, so we never even discussed the option. I guess they all turned on their own so it didn't matter after all.
I also am very grateful for technology and epidurals, baby!!!
Good luck! No matter how she gets here she'll be a huge blessing and you'll be glad to have her here. :)
Oooh! That is so exciting. I'll mark my calendar for the 25th!! I can't wait! Can I come take pictures (if it's ok) when you get home? You have the most beautiful babies- I can't wait to see this one!
Our pool is warming up if you want to try that "trick" here this time... he he he.
Either way, you must be grateful for ultra-sounds that show it wouldn't be possible for a regular delivery, aren't we blessed to live in these times of advanced technology!!
Let me know what I can do- and when I can watch your kids again for a Dr.'s appt!!! :)
