Tricks Gymnastics

We recently discovered Tricks Gymnastics. The kids formed a choo-choo train and followed each other along balance beams, over walls and into areas filled with Styrofoam blocks. It looked like an absolute blast, so after trying out a weekday class, we enrolled Blake in a 5-year old Kindergym class and Grace is on a waiting list for a 3-year old class held at the same time.

They will have gymnastics once a week, for one hour. Tricks hires class teachers who are wonderful with kids and their motto is "Building Stronger Kids Every Day." The kids learn to memorize instructions of six items in a row, listen to directions, and get lots of exercise. They also use a huge trampoline and begin teaching trampoline tricks to the kids. Watch out, Daddy: they'll have those backflips down soon.

The trampoline is probably Blake's most favorite part. I asked Blake if he wanted to take tennis classes once a week or jump on the trampoline and do somersaults. He said, "Trampoline and somersaults!" This is coming from the guy who can do 12 somersaults in a row, which he demonstrated on the hill by our home owner's visitor center last summer. We'll probably have Blake jump around at Tricks for about a year and then we'll move onto something else like Tennis or Basketball.

Here is a video from our first time at Tricks:

Here is Blake attempting to crawl across a bridge on his hands and knees. Soon he will have the confidence to run across.

This is a video of the best swing! It holds three kids at once. Each swing looks like the baby swings you would find at the park. I thought it would be the best to build one of these in our backyard and even took pictures of how it was secured to the beam on the ceiling so I could show Robbie.

Then, two of the kids threw up afterward! You'll see why when you watch the swing in motion. All of the other kids are sitting patiently behind safety cones.

Here's Gracelady on the swing: She's the little girl in the pink tutu. I wish you could see her face better. She was cautiously very happy.

And here's Blake's turn: He's the guy in the khaki pants.

Robbie did not come to Tricks but stayed home at Grandma's house and cuddled with Bear Bear:
