How Are We Doing?

Here is a little follow-up on some earlier posts:

How are we doing on Elder Ballard's Challenge? We never did find anyone to invite to hear the missionaries teach in our home. We had a goal to find someone to share the Gospel with by June 22nd and we were really sad we didn't make the goal. But we are still trying to find someone who is prepared to hear about the Church.

How are we doing with my mommy schedule that we enacted soon after London's birth? It is almost entirely in tact and we've followed it pretty closely for the past four months. Usually the first thing to go is the walk in the morning if the house is too messy from the night before or we have something big like a doctor's appointment or a visit with Grandma on the schedule for the day. I love our walks and when we don't go, I miss being out in the cool morning air with the kids, squashing fallen apricots and stomping in puddles. As long as I get up early enough to shower and straighten up any remaining messes from the nighttime routine, we have a fabulous morning. I have to remember to get up early and remember the difference it makes in our day, when those few extra minutes of sleep are sounding enticing. Robbie and I often talk for an hour or so after the kids go to bed and after that, it is time for us to go to bed, and we're too tired to finish cleaning up from the after dinner wrestling/scriptures party that takes place in the evenings.

What did I decide after our girl talk about my hair? I tried the curly girl method for a while and then couldn't stick with the not-using-shampoo-for-several-days-in-a-row theory. (The Wiki-How article suggests that conditioner has enough cleansing agents in it to keep your scalp clean and that your hair will adjust and not feel greasy after 2-4 weeks.) I left my hair dryer in Fairfield right about the same time I was blogging about curly vs. straight hair so I had to have curly hair for a couple of weeks! I wore it up a lot and enjoyed how quickly I could style it in the mornings. But I'm basically back to the normal blow dry and straighten every other day routine.

And finally, this is the hardest one, but comes from a girl who is working so hard to improve one weakness of being at-first-excited-and-then-distracted: How are we doing on those letters regarding Prop 8? Well, I collected the addresses and blogged about how to write to the companies, but we have yet to send letters in. I know!!! Ah!! Yes, I'm so sorry and I can't believe we haven't sent letters in, yet. But maybe you can help me to complete it. I can't just leave you thinking we did it when we've yet to complete it!

We've been househunting quite a bit during the past month and are hoping to find a place soon. We are doing well and I am especially grateful for the schedule that we've been following, which has helped us have some of the most wonderful memories I could imagine, playing games, going for walks, and spending time together. We are looking forward to all of the holidays that come in the fall and winter months and of course, we love you all so much!
